There’s something so elegant about asparagus. It’s simple, yet beautiful. Most people probably don’t think much about it, but when you take a moment to look closely, you’ll notice the subtle gradients of green and purple, and the delicate, overlapping leaves on the tips. Fresh produce is one of my favorite things. This asparagus painting is part of my Produce series in oil, and I’m so excited to share it with you. :)
It’s a 6x6" painting on flat (1/8") hardboard, created with loose, painterly brushstrokes that bring the asparagus to life. The brushwork has a light texture, and the piece is varnished, arriving unframed and ready for its new home.
Fun facts about asparagus -Asparagus is packed with antioxidants and has natural anti-inflammatory properties. It’s also one of the few vegetables that contains inulin, a prebiotic that promotes healthy digestion! It’s loaded with vitamins A, C, and K, and is known to be a great detoxifier for the body. When harvested young, it’s tender and sweet, but let it grow longer, and it becomes a tall, feathery plant with little white flowers.
